Greetings Humans,

It is hot here in Japan. It makes me feel a bit lazy. I think it is a good thing the weather is so brisk now in Wellington since I hear that Ken and Richelle have a lot to do.

There are lots of decisions that have to be made in planning the café space. Where should everything go in the human food and drink serving area? It amazes me that we cats are considered finicky when I observe how many different things you humans eat and drink. Ken and Richelle have been working with their designer and consulting with experts on fire safety, ventilation, and other important things. Nothing seems more important to me than the cats’ play area, though. My servants made sure to look into this first and are working with The Valley Craftsman on a prototype bridge and climbing system that they will trial in their own house. Tonraq is lucky that he gets to test it, but I would probably not want to do too much climbing or jumping now that I am so old.

Tonraq may not consider himself lucky when he finds out the latest news. He is going to get some new friends. Ken and Richelle will become full time servants to the cats who will be living at the café. I know you humans call it adopting, but let’s be real. They will be selecting the friendliest cats from the rescue organisations and bringing them together in their home so they can all get used to each other. I wish I could be there to help keep everyone in line.

My former servants are also working really hard on getting their crowdfunding campaign ready. They feel it is strange to ask strangers for money, but I have told them that many people will want a chance to be involved in making the cat café as good as it can be. Besides, the cool rewards will motivate even more people to donate. They have been saving for so long, they deserve a bit of help from all the other humans who will have the chance to interact with cats because of what they are doing. Fortunately for them, an amateur videographer from UHARS, Justin, is helping them with their video filming and editing. Jess, from Pledgeme is helping them to make the donation page look good. They are learning that everyone needs help and it is okay to ask for it. They hope to launch the campaign in August and raise at least $20,000 in one month. You know cats don’t use money but, I am asking you humans to look out for the announcement and share it with everyone you know so that many people in Wellington will have a chance to help.

I am looking forward to next week for selfish reasons. Ken will come to visit me! He says it is for business to get lots of good Japanese goods for the retail part of the café, but I know the real reason. He is not always so obvious in saying he loves me, but his actions speak loudly enough.
