Greetings Humans!

It’s Cait Sith again. Mi Two is not feeling well. She had to go to the vet again last night since she was hyperventilating. She’s better now, but still having trouble eating and remembering how to use the toilet. It’s hard for me to imagine anyone forgetting how to eat, though. I love food and will take whatever I can get. Ken says I am getting chubby but I will not accept any body shaming comments! I need to grow big and strong.

There are many reasons I need to be big and strong. The world is a scary place. Just two weeks ago I got knocked down a few times by some big dogs while I was on my leash. The dogs were not on their leashes so their human could not control them and it took forever for Ken to rescue me.  Ken said he was sure the sign on the path said that dogs must be on a leash, but I know humans do not always read signs and dogs NEVER do! I am not going on any walks again until I feel like I can stand up for myself and fight them off. Fortunately, I have a new playmate who is giving me lots of chances to fight. Mi-ke (her name sounds like Mee Kay in English) came to our house last Friday from UHARS. She is a grand old lady who “will not tolerate any nonsense!” That makes her so fun to tease. She used to be called Minka in her old house, but Richelle decided to use the Japanese words for calico cat since that’s what her colouring is. Ken thinks Tonraq is scared of her, but Richelle says that he is just cautious. So, I now have two playmates and that makes me happy.

Ken and Richelle are also happy that their crowdfunding campaign was a success. They told me that lots of people donated to make the cat café a beautiful and comfortable place. I have never seen them so cheerful as they were on Monday night when the goal was passed. I told them to always keep trying even when you don’t believe and you want to give up. So, I guess they will listen to my advice more now that I was right. Even though I am not as experienced as Mi Two, I am still a cat and I know best!

They need to keep a good attitude about the building consent right now. It is getting delayed and that is making the construction delayed too. However, they have so much going on that is good: the people they have interviewed to work in the café are all well qualified with barista and cat service skills, the artists they are talking to about doing murals in the café are competent and excited to be part of the project, there are so many people who are helping them with advice and information about starting this business, and so much more deserves gratitude. I am also excited I got a new climbing tree, suspension bridge and ladder from the Valley Craftsman and might be getting some more playmates soon!
