Dear Cat Lovers
Recently, we received a request to check out a study of cat foods done by reviews.com. Few of us us have the time or resources to do such research (we don’t!) so we are grateful to get information like this to help us make decisions.
The study seems quite comprehensive with 1759 formulas judged on ingredients, origin and reputation. It also seems exhaustive with only 145 cat foods making the recommended list. The most informative thing for us is the graphic that shows which ingredients to look for and which to look out for. The most pedantic thing for us was the exclusion of all foods made outside the US, Canada, or New Zealand and the strict line on recalls and parent companies which are involved in controversy. There are high quality cat food makers in Japan, for example. But, it would be hard for English speaking researchers to judge them because of the language barrier. A recall may indicate that a company is acting responsibly.
It is definitely worth a read and a think so you can make up your own mind about the food you serve your beloved cat.

Would be helpful if you alerted us how to say the name! Cat wait until you open. Caryl
I never knew wheat has to be avoided! I’ll take care of it from now onwards. Thank you so much for this post 🙂
Dear Vidisha,
It seems the important thing is that there not be too much wheat or other non-protein ingredients.
We do our best to keep the cafe cats from eating crumbs from cakes, biscuits and pies, but cannot prevent it completely.
