Student Cats

These cats are learning how to behave around humans and other cats!

Atawhai

Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Colour: Black
DOB: 12/02/2020
Gender: Female
Personality: playful
Size: 2.0kg

My Story:

I, Atawhai, was kindly rescued on Anzac Day by the nice people of KittyCat Rehoming.  Although my sister brother and I started rough, I learned quickly to enjoy a good warm fire and a friendly lap for morning pats. But I want to decide which lap I sit in, thanks.  I am curious and even started exploring the café quicker than my sister. My collar is dark grey with dots and I have a white dot on my neck.

Things I like:

Aroha

Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Colour: Black
DOB: 12/02/2020
Gender: Female
Personality: playful
Size: 2.0kg

My Story:

I, Aroha, was rescued by KittyCat Rehoming Wairarapa on Anzac Day from a colony of stray cats with my sister and brother. We were young so we’ve gotten used to humans a bit, but we are still cautious and may always be. I love cuddles and sweet things. I can be mischievous too so watch out for small items that I could take and hide away. My collar and bell are pink.

Things I like:

Mocha

Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Colour: Tuxedo
DOB: 05/10/2019
Gender: Female
Personality: shy
Size: 3.3kg

My Story:

I, Mocha, was surrendered by a nice lady in Woburn who keeps on taking in cats when they come for food. I got to go to another nice lady with my sister Nina. Everyone thought we were pregnant! Well, that’s not very flattering, but I am willing to forgive it. I’m quiet and can take a while to warm up to people but love a good play and cuddle once I am comfortable. I am even happy on your lap or draped over your shoulder after I trust you.

Things I like: Playing football with wadded up balls of paper or soft, fuzzy balls, chasing the laser dot, boxes especially if I can chew them into bits, horizontal scratching boards.

Peanut (Peanut is waiting for her adoption trial!)

Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Colour: Tabby & White
DOB: Feb. 2020
Gender: Female
Personality: bold, playful
Size: 2.1kg

My Story:

I, Peanut, was brought to the café by Rescue Free Kittens. I have gotten used to being called ‘Mini’ by my foster, but I don’t mind. I heard I was named by my sponsor after a mighty kitty so that suits me fine. I may be little, but I sure am mighty. Even when I am stuck in a high place and can’t reach the next step because I am so small, I will use my mighty voice to call for your help. I have so much energy; I will play non-stop. I’m both cuddly and playful but I need to be first in your heart so don’t even think about having another girl cat.

Things I like:

sleeping on human laps or a chair, the feather toy

Domina (Domina is waiting for her adoption trial!)

Breed: Domestic Medium Hair
Colour: Tabby & White
DOB: Feb. 2020
Gender: Female
Personality: shy, timid
Size: 2.4kg

My Story:

I, Domina, was surrendered to Rescue Free Kittens and brought to the café. I’m not dominant so you can call me Mina. I don’t even mind DomDom as long as you are nice to me.  My sister, Peanut, says I’m not as smart as her but I am softer and fluffy, so I guess it evens out. I usually follow what she does, but at the café, I have started to find my independence. I love chin scratches and a good play. I am not too happy about being around other cats, but I may get used to them, especially the nice boys.

Things I like:

Window bed in high place, feather toy

Peaches (Peaches wants to be a professor cat at Neko Ngeru!)

Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Colour: Ginger
DOB: Jan. 2020
Gender: Female
Personality: playful, bold
Size: 2.7kg

My Story:

I, Peaches, was surrendered to Rescue Free Kittens with my brothers, Beta and Kappa, but went directly to Neko Ngeru’s care. I am bold and curious and really like people. I’m not sure whether I like food or playing better since I am kind of easily distracted. I liked being fostered with Gladys, so other cats are fine by me and I am not afraid of children, but dogs scare me because one killed one of my siblings when I was really little.

Things I like:

playing with toys and other cats

Kappa (Kappa is on his adoption trial with Ladybug!)

Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Colour: Tabby/White
DOB: Jan. 2020
Gender: Male
Personality: playful
Size: 3.3kg

My Story:

I, Kappa, was surrendered with my brother, Beta, and my sister, Peaches, to Neko Ngeru through Rescue Free Kittens. We had another sibling, but a mean dog got it. New situations make me cautious, but I really like to play, especially to jump high for feather toys or to kick a ball around. Once I trust you, I will ask you for attention a lot, so you had better be ready for lots of play and snuggles. I guess I was a little bit mean to Gladys when we lived together before, but now she knows I was only teasing, and we can get along. I like to choose which lap I sleep on, thank you.

Things I like:

Playing, sleeping on humans

Beta (Beta is on his adoption trial!)

Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Colour: Tabby & White
DOB: Jan. 2020
Gender: Male
Personality: playfull, brave
Size: 3.1kg

My Story:

I, Beta, was surrendered along with Peaches and Kappa to Neko Ngeru through Rescue Free Kittens. I am not as bold as my sister or as strong as my brother but I am almost always happy and will greet you with a purr or a meow. so please chat back at me because I love it.  I may look a bit ‘roly-poly’ but I’m not fat, I just have short legs. I am cautious at first and prefer quiet places to explore and satisfy my curiosity. Other cats are fine but dogs will take some getting used to since I was around some scary ones as a very young kitten.

Things I like:

Getting petted, playing and jumping with a feather toy, trying to steal your food

Ladybug (Ladybug is on her adoption trial with Kappa!)

Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Colour: Tabby
DOB: Jan. 2020
Gender: Female
Personality: timid, shy, playful
Size: 2.6kg

My Story:

I, Ladybug, was rescued by Fern, a possum trapper in the East Wairarapa. My early experiences were all in the bush, so I may always be a bit wild. But I learned to trust and love my rescuer, my fosters and now the people of Neko Ngeru. When I choose to love you, I am very affectionate and playful. Feather toy chasing is one of my favourite games. I am good with other cats, dogs and have met a few chickens.

Things I like:

Playing with a feather toy and possum tail toy.

Gladys (Gladys is waiting for her adoption trial!)

Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Colour: Tuxedo
DOB: Oct. 2019
Gender: Female
Personality: shy, polite
Size: 2.7kg

My Story:

I, Gladys, was rescued by a nice lady named Helena in Waiwhehtu. She found me and my siblings under her house and brought us inside when I was about two months old to be warm and safe. She contacted Neko Ngeru to make sure I found a good home. I am naturally cautious and smart as I can be. I like to take small things like hair ties and hide them in my special spot for you to find later. I am snuggly once I get to know you.  I get along with other cats pretty well and a quiet home is best for me.

Things I like:

Sharing the box with other kittens, playing and staying up high
