Greetings Humans

It has been a hard time physically, mentally, emotionally and financially at Neko Ngeru Cat Adoption Café. I recently visited since the café is flu free now (last big clean was Sunday June 5). I was surprised at how hard-working the handful of cats are. It seems that adversity has made them work better as a team. Of course, I must still hiss at them to show them who is boss, but they are showing such good attitude, I don’t mind even to play with them a bit. Inky is clearly the strong champion I trained him to be and Nox and Nesbitt are irrepressible as usual.

Ken and Richelle are working all day to save money and have shortened the opening hours for winter to be 10-4pm daily except for Saturday which is 10-5. Mondays are still our day off but we will probably change that during the school holidays. They are also making a lot more of their own food. There is a soup or curry of the day and sandwiches in meat and vegetarian options (as a carnivore, I have trouble understanding how you humans do that!) They really hope more people will come to the cafe so that they can afford to keep it going.  They need your help!

Since the flu was such a damaging thing for us, Ken and Richelle are going to change a few things about the way we bring in new cats. We will have a ten-day quarantine off site either at the rescue organisations or at one of our own fosterers. Some will even qualify for my training! The flu usually shows symptoms within ten days so, we will be better able to protect the café cats. Richelle and Ken will keep Tonraq and my vaccinations up to date and get any sick cats isolated from us as quickly as they can, so we’ll be okay too. We understand our duty.

Because of the quarantine, cats will probably be coming and going more slowly from the café. When you meet the one you love, fill out the application and talk to Ken or Richelle about how your home matches the cat’s character, then be prepared to wait a bit for a replacement cat to come to the café.

Lola

Elle is going to her new family on Friday and Lola has a prospective person too. Lotte is away in quarantine, but when she is healthy, will return. Finn, Abbie and Po went back to their rescuers who are trying to find homes for them. May they be well loved!

I heard that the Entertainment Book is available for sale at the cafe too. It is a good time to get the new book since the old one has expired.

Cat Lovers’ Meetup Group will continue with Cat Bingo June 12. Join in for the fun of it. If you have ideas for events that we could hold at the café, please contact us and tell us about it.

If we are going to survive as a business, we need more people to come visit us especially in the week days. We cats get really lonely when no customers are here. Please get the word out about us and continue to support us as much as you can.
